About the project

“World Without Water” was a local youth project implemented with 30 young people aged 20–30 to raise awareness about clean water resources, water saving and environmental protection. Starting from the reality of increasing water scarcity and pollution, the project aimed to help young people understand water as a basic source of life for humans and all living beings, and to motivate them to protect it in their daily lives.

With the support of the Konya Water and Sewerage Affairs Directorate, the project combined workshops, field visits and creative activities to strengthen young people’s environmental consciousness and to encourage them to act as role models for younger generations.

Objectives

The project pursued the following objectives:

  • Raise awareness among young people about water scarcity, water pollution and the importance of protecting clean water resources.
  • Promote water saving and conscious consumption at home, in workplaces, in agriculture, in factories and in all areas where clean water is used.
  • Encourage young people to develop and share ideas on how to use water correctly, protect it and recycle it, strengthening existing strategies for environmental protection.
  • Use creative tools (posters, brochures, short films) to draw attention to clean water resources and nature and to reach a wider audience.

Build a culture of responsibility for future generations, helping young people become examples for children and younger age groups in saving water and protecting the environment.

Activities

To achieve these aims, the project implemented a set of focused activities:

Four thematic workshops

  • Workshop 1: Presentations on water and the water cycle, followed by a short theatrical performance prepared by the youth groups.
  • Workshop 2: Discussion on water saving and conscious consumption, sharing examples of irrigation methods from participants’ regions and good practices in agriculture.
  • Workshop 3: Debate on “living one day with 25 litres of water”, reflecting on daily water use and possible reductions.
  • Workshop 4: Session on how to share knowledge and experience, working with participants who had previous experience in environmental and nature-related activities (NGO members, volunteers, students).

Expert input and institutional cooperation

  • A visit and information session by officials from the Konya Water and Sewerage Affairs Directorate, explaining the importance of water saving and clean water resources.

Field visit and local environmental awareness

  • A visit to the Obruklar region to observe local water resources and risks, increasing participants’ sensitivity to nature and the need to protect water sources.

Dissemination and awareness-raising

Sharing project results through local press, municipalities, relevant ministries and social media, in order to increase environmental and water awareness at local level and beyond.
