About the project
With this project we aim to support families of persons with substance addiction so that they can intervene in addiction problems in a more conscious, supportive and prepared way. Through a combination of work packages, workshops, trainings, a website and a mobile application, we want to create a sustainable “compass” for families – a practical, long-term guidance tool they can use when dealing with crisis situations, communication challenges and relapse risks.
Objectives
The project’s main objective is to develop and implement structured work packages and a mobile application specifically for families of persons with addiction. These tools will help families understand addiction dynamics, improve communication, recognise early warning signs and access relevant support services. In the long run, we want families to feel less alone, more competent and more actively involved in recovery processes. By the end of the project we expect to have five major results: (1) national reports with concrete objectives, needs and a clear definition of the developed approach; (2) a needs analysis in each partner country; (3) a list of suitable trainings and workplaces that can be used after the workshops; (4) a website that keeps the project results available after the project ends; and (5) a mobile application for families of persons with addiction as an easily accessible support tool.
Activities
In addition to virtual and face-to-face transnational meetings for coordination, the project will include local gatherings with family representatives and other target-group stakeholders, a 5-day study visit in Austria to observe good practice in supporting families and addiction recovery, and a 5-day transnational training course for learners and staff to test and refine the developed materials. We will also organise multiplier events to present and promote the results to professionals, NGOs and public institutions, and carry out other awareness-raising and empowerment activities that help families of persons with addiction become more active and resilient in their everyday life.
