About the project

The project aims to strengthen sport and well-being opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people by developing and promoting the concept of social sport clubs. It focuses on mapping and supporting existing initiatives, creating local and transnational networks, and connecting practice with policy to ensure that social sport clubs contribute to equitable participation, holistic development and inclusion. By generating evidence-based findings, piloting concrete models and disseminating results through a final publication and stakeholder conference, the project seeks to create lasting change in local communities and policy frameworks.

Objectives

The project pursues the following objectives:

  • Improve access to sport and well-being for disadvantaged children and young people through socially-oriented sport clubs.
  • Map and analyse existing social sport clubs and local policies, creating a solid knowledge base for action.
  • Support and strengthen existing initiatives by providing a practical pilot guide, tools and learning opportunities.
  • Create networks and promote exchanges between clubs, municipalities, policy makers and other stakeholders to foster mutual learning and collaboration.
  • Integrate well-being and inclusion initiatives into the regular work of sport clubs, contributing to holistic development (physical, mental, social) of children and youth.
  • Influence policies and practices by providing evidence-based recommendations, a sustainable valorisation plan and a final publication, ensuring that the concept of social sport clubs is recognised, supported and scaled.

Activities

To reach these objectives, the project will implement a coherent set of activities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive literature review on social sport, well-being and inclusion, providing the theoretical and policy framework.
  • Map social sport clubs and local policies in the partner contexts to identify good practices, gaps and opportunities.
  • Develop a pilot guide for social sport clubs, including practical tools to integrate well-being, inclusion and holistic development into daily practice.
  • Implement pilot programmes in 6 social sport clubs, involving local policy makers and creating learning networks between clubs and communities.
  • Set up a monitoring and evaluation system to track progress, participation and well-being outcomes, and to document positive impacts on children and young people.
  • Design and implement a sustainable valorisation plan, ensuring that successful models and tools are transferred, upscaled and embedded in local and regional policies.
  • Produce a final publication summarising the evidence, models and policy recommendations, and organise a final stakeholder conference to disseminate results and promote long-term change in sport and youth policy and practice.
